A Servant Heart

Over the last 12 hours I have been impacted by the servant heart of two people who, already having busy schedules, have been willing to sacrifice for my family and I. In a day and age when the busyness of life never seems to slow down, I thank the Lord for these two men who love the Lord and care about others. I will not share their names here, but know that they are appreciated beyond words.

Please take time to this weekend to reflect not only on those who have reached out to help you, even in a small way, and take the time to reach out to someone as well. There is no greater way to demonstrate your love for the Lord than to obey His commands. Commands such as: love your neighbor as yourself, be kind to others, and much more.

Remember: Being Christ to the world is more about what we do Monday through Saturday than what we do on Sunday!

Have a Great day!!

What is 'Auxano' all about?

2 Peter 3:18 commands us to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." As I have reflected on this verse over the last couple of days, I was intrigued by the word "grow." The word in the Greek is auxano and simply means "to grow, enlarge, increase." Our responsibility is to grow, or increase in our knowledge of God and His Word. James tells us that if we lack wisdom we should ask God (James 1:5). And yet, there is a way for us to do that, in part, according to Proverbs 1:1-2 "The proverbs of Solomon son of David, King of Israel: for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight."

As we know "wisdom" is simply the use of knowledge in a practical and successful way. So let's put all of this together. God wants us to grow in our knowledge and gain wisdom. In order for us to use the knowledge in a practical way or in our every day life, we must grow in our knowledge of God and His Word.

The only way that this will happen is by immersing ourselves in God's Word. We have libraries and bookstores full of books that will help us become more knowledgeable. However, I want to challenge you to not put so much emphasis on all the the other books, and focus your time and attention on the one book, the Bible. Remember that 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that "Scripture is God-breathed;" not the other books!

My challenge to you is this: Let's Auxano Together! Let's study Scripture together and challenge and encourage each other. The purpose of this blog is to challenge you in your auxano-ing (grow-ing) and provide a place for me to update you when I go to India in June!

Have a great day.
